Behzad Jeddi
Director of research
Behzad Jeddi teaches economics at DMACC and conducts research at Iowa State University, where he is completing a PhD in Economics. His work lies at the intersection of agricultural and environmental economics and network theory, examining how land use, production systems, and ecological linkages influence economic and policy outcomes. Methodologically, he integrates panel data, causal inference, and geospatial/network analysis to generate evidence that informs decisions on agriculture and environmental quality.
While pursuing his PhD at Iowa State, Behzad served as a research assistant and taught several courses as a graduate instructor. In the classroom, he emphasizes critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and real-world application. Beyond campus, he has collaborated with human-rights organizations to raise awareness about violations against minorities in Iran, reflecting his view that inclusive institutions and human rights are essential to a healthy democracy. He brings curiosity, care, and a practical mindset to both research and teaching.
