Turkan Bozkurt

Outreach and Engagement Lead

Turkan Bozkurt is a paralegal and human rights policy advocate based in Montreal. She earned her Master’s degree from the University of Toronto, where she examined comparative colonial governance structures in Canada and state policies toward minority groups in the Middle East. Turkan also holds an Honours Bachelor’s degree from the same institution, with a double major in Near and Middle Eastern Studies and Criminology and Sociolegal Studies.

Her commitment to advancing gender equality, minority rights, and social justice has led her to collaborate with numerous international organizations and policy networks. Turkan has contributed to the drafting of evidence-based reports and policy briefs submitted to UN mechanisms and governmental bodies, focusing on human rights accountability and systemic reform. She has been a prominent panelist at international forums such as the Economic Forum Poland, MESA, and NWSA, where she advocates for inclusive governance, gender-responsive policymaking, and intersectional approaches to global justice.

In addition to her policy and advocacy work, Turkan has authored analytical articles for leading platforms including Geopolitical Monitor, Eureporter, and the Topchubashov Center. Through her research and public engagement, she seeks to bridge the gap between academic knowledge, policymaking, and community based action.
