IPEK Center Board Member Receives Article of the Year Award

IPEK Center’s Director of Research, Dr. Behzad Jeddi, has received the 2025 Article of the Year Award from the editors of Agricultural and Resource Economics Review for his co-authored article, “The Economic Value of a Farmer Network: An Application to Pest Management in Iowa.”

The article, co-authored with Dr. Guilherme DePaula, examines the economic value of farmer networks in pest-management decisions. In this research, farmer networks are explored as a practical infrastructure for reducing uncertainty in pest-management decisions, showing that the value of shared information depends not simply on whether farmers communicate, but on the timing and relevance of the signals they receive from others facing similar production risks.

The award recognizes a study that brings economic modeling to a practical question of how much value farmers can gain when better information circulates through a network.
