IPEK Center Literature Review Series: Balochis in Iran

IPEK Center is pleased to announce the publication of The Social Status of the Baloch in Iran: A Literature Review, the second release in our literature review series on national groups in Iran.

The series focuses on topics that are often overlooked or insufficiently documented. It collects and organizes existing scholarship in an accessible way, to create a reliable reference point for readers interested in these issues. Each review is treated as an ongoing publication rather than a one-time document. Reviews are revisited and updated annually to reflect newly published sources and themes, so that the body of literature stays current and usable over time.

This review follows our first, which examined Azerbaijanis in Iran. It surveys 61 published works on the Baloch, together with 15 bodies of documentation. It is organized around five themes: history and historiography; religion and the state; language and oral literature; identity and belonging; and marginalization, securitization, and state violence.
